Sumerians
The Sumerians lived between two rivers called the Tigris and Euphrates, and by 4000B.C. they developed into many cities and states. Their main city-state Sumer was located in the southernmost part of ancient mesopotamia. The founders of the first Mesopotamian civilization were Black Sumerians.
The Sumerians left no doubt to how they viewed themselves racially. The Sumerians called themselves sag-gig-ga, the Black headed people. Sumer was at the crossroads of Asia, Africa and Europe. There were three major social groups in the sumerian city-states. These groups were called the nobles, commoners, and the slaves. The commoners did lots of things they did farming, merchanting, and craftspeople. created Cuneiform the first form of writing, they used stylus that were made from sharp tools to write on clay tablets.
The Sumerians were all about farming, and whatever they farmed they ate. They farmed wheat, barley, lentils, beans, garlic, and onions. They even had cows that they could go and get milk from. Sumerians also made bread and beer from the leftover wheat they didn’t use. When Sumerians farmed they would flood their fields and let the oxens stomp the ground to kill weeds. More than 90 percent of people in mesopotamia are farmers due to the rich soil.
